One of the hardest weeks
I haven't added anything much lately, because last weekend was a little traumatic. My grandmother broke her hip on election day. Some how the brakes on her wheelchair were not set. I then fractured my nose on Friday, because I was so distracted. Then my grandmother passed away on Saturday. I was an emotional mess on Sunday, and during the funeral on Tuesday. I am glad my family and friends have been there for me.

Friday on the 72 hour Campaign
Well it was good news to hear that Bush was up 2 points in Zogby's in Michigan. I feel we reached more friendly voters today, and bringing along some bumper stickers seemed to be a good idea. The phone bank did not seem as effective. I think Michigan is in play, and winnable. I feel pretty good but I think we have to be viligent.

Second Day of 72 hour campaign
We did a lot of door-to-door campaigning. Initially we were going to be van drivers but looks like a few last minute changes happened. I later attended the conference call for poll watching/challenging. I am doing a little research of the HAVA act in case I am asked questions. It seemed to be a pretty strong Republican presence in the area of Michigan we were in. I think our most effective contact was waiting in line at the Rite-Aid where we found an eager Republican who wanted stuff to put on his car.

First day on the 72 hour campaign
Well I took the metro to Reagan National. It's a pain to have luggage during rush hour. Check-in was pretty simple. I did not meet up with the people I was driving with until I got into Flint. I was hoping they were more my age but both Stan and Vicki are much older. Once we got in, we talked with the local office who could have gotten us into the Silverdome to see the President and Senator Zell Miller but it would have been a close call trying to get in. We then got a little lost trying to get a late lunch. Mia, the marshall from D.C., is about my age. It seems she wasn't getting a lot of help from the county volunteers. They seem to be more focussed on local politics. We got quite lost on our way back to the hotel, but we made it back. The conference call to organize the door-to-door campaign was a lot shorter than I expected, and it was to understand anything being said when the call was opened up for questions. I hope thing are smoother tomorrow.

Paris
Here are my photos from my weekend in Paris. It was a really fabulous trip. Lots of good food, champagne, art, and good speeches about the state of the EU economy. Also, it was good to catch up with Eric and meet some new people too.
